| Portrait of Gerald Kleinfeld. Oil on canvas. |

The German Studies Association (founded in 1976) commissioned a portrait ofits founding Executive Director as a retirement gift presented to him at the GSA annual conference in Milwaukee in October, 2005. The reaction to Bob Diven's portrait of Dr. Gerald Kleinfeld together with his schnauzer Max wasuniversally enthusiastic and positive, and many GSA members wanted to know more about Bob and his work. Bob, according to numerous comments, managedto capture the essence of a complicated and many-faceted academic scholar from a series of snapshots and frontispiece photos; most people who commented could hardly believe that Kleinfeld had not actually sat for Bob or even met him. The commission process benefited enormously from Bob's exceptional artist-client communication skills. The success of this portrait exceeded everyone's expectations.

"As founder and owner of Thievin Vaqueros Hat Company I was in need of a logo and artwork. I approached Bob Diven and asked for help. Bob took my good idea and made it a great one that translated well on my hats, t-shirts, and other items we sold. He made my business jump.
Later I became the President of Beaver Brand Hat Company, the oldest hat company in the United States. I once again sought out Bob for help. He made our logo simple, readable, and most of all recognizable. Both of these logos that came from Bobs somewhat twisted mind, are still used by those companies today.
Bob Diven, the best damn invoice I ever paid with those two companies!"

"An artist with CONSUMATE technical skill...
An artist with the tenacity to take his craft to the highest imaginable level...
An artist who not only enjoys his humanity...but one who lives within his humanity in an HONEST effort to relate to ME through his truly inspired creative output...
An artist whose every work I saw was not only technically superb, but artistically honest and intellectually challenging...
I've seen most of bob's work over the past 20 years and it's just gotten better and better in every way... technically, creatively, and artistically...if i need an artist who is as good as there is..."
Dr. William Clark, Conductor and Music Director, Mesilla Valley Concert Band at NMSU.
