Dear Theater Friends,
Please take a look at the two versions of EXTINCTION: A LOVE STORY, a
terrific musical by Bob Diven, which I had the pleasure of directing
last fall and dramaturging for two years. The piece proved to be of
great appeal to both young audiences and adults – the children loved
the humor, the costumes, the music; the adults loved the sophisticated
science presented in smart, musical and dramatic ways. The show makes
people smile, even cry, and sends them out of the theater humming and
wondering.
The two versions are one for theaters that want a one hour piece for
school age audiences (it can be done with five actors and a piano) and
the second version, the full, 96 minute version, makes a wonderful
evening, six characters, a small orchestra.
I am Bob’s supporter on this play. I can be involved or not. If a
theater would like me to direct, I’d be happy to consider that; if a
theater wants to have in it’s own director, that’s fine. I want the
piece done, I want Bob to do whatever further work might be useful, I
want a wide audience to know this play and its creator.
I know the piece works and should be seen. I hope you’ll give it every
consideration. If I can be of any further help, please feel free to
contact me at markmedoff@comcast.net.
Best,
Mark Medoff
